Allison en Emily, twee rijke, verwende, blanke tienermeisjes uit een welgesteld deel van Los Angeles, raken gefascineerd door de hip hop-cultuur in de ghettowijk East L.A. Vastbesloten om zelf de 'gangsta' lifestyle te ontdekken proberen ze opgenomen te worden in deze scene. Maar wanneer ze in contact komen met een wrede Mexicaanse drugdealer en zijn latino 'gangers', blijkt het leven op de straten van East L.A. niet alleen opwindend, maar simpelweg doodgevaarlijk.
