Ishbo is een filosofische holbewoner die hunkert om meer uit het leven te halen dan stokken, stenen en rauw vlees. Vastbesloten om eigenhandig het menselijke ras vooruit te helpen, begint Ishbo zijn mede-Neanderthalers te irriteren met zijn belachelijke uitvindingen zoals de tandenborstel, de lepel en de broek. De rest van zijn stam, met inbegrip van zijn geërgerde ouders, keuren zijn vooruitziende en toekomstgerichte ideeën af als het raaskallen van een complete idioot, iets dat hem ook niet vooruit helpt om indruk te maken op de mooie Fardart, een holenmeisje die hij van afstand aanbidt. Maar Fardart heeft slechts oog voor Ishbo's mooie maar niet al te snuggere broer Thudnik. Net als het lijkt dat het niet nog slechter kan worden, bereidt de stam aan de andere kant van de heuvel zich voor op een oorlog. Zal zijn stam de stammenoorlog overleven en zo ja, zal Ishbo ooit de liefde van Fardart winnen?
Nee, helaas is Homo Erectus nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
