Gloria (Béatrice Dalle) is een dakloze dertiger die in haar jeugd moeilijk handelbaar was en haar ouders lieten haar uiteindelijk opnemen in een psychiatrische inrichting. Daar ontmoette ze de liefde van haar leven, Frances (Emmanuelle Béart). Ze werden echter ook weer van elkaar gescheiden. Bij toeval ontmoet ze haar een paar jaar later weer op straat in de stad Nancy. Frances is nu een tv-presentatrice. Ze besluiten op een gegeven moment hun levens te ruilen.
