8 februari 1977 markeert de dag dat Tony Kiritsis het kantoor van Richard Hall binnenwandelt. Hall is hypotheekmakelaar, directeur van zijn bedrijf en wordt op deze noodlottige dag door Kiritsis onder schot gehouden en ontvoerd. De hele wereld kijkt in spanning toe hoe dit conflict zal eindigen. Op Tony's eisenlijst staan onder meer vijf miljoen dollar, verontschuldigingen van de familie Hall en een gebrek aan vervolging.
