Dr. Watson (Ben Kingsley) heeft er genoeg van om altijd maar in de schaduw te moeten staan van Sherlock Holmes, een figuur die hij nota bene zelf heeft geschapen in zijn misdaadserie voor het tijdschrift The Strand. Sherlock Holmes wordt zo populair dat Watson de acteur Reginald Kincaid (Michael Caine) in moet schakelen om zijn fictieve figuur gestalte te geven. Kincaid blijkt echter een dronken toneelspeler die Watson mateloos irriteert. Als Watson probeert hem aan de kant te schuiven om zelf met de eer te gaan strijken blijkt al gauw dat Watson het zelf niet kan, wat hem dwingt om Sherlock Holmes weer tot leven te brengen, met alle gevolgen van dien…
Nee, helaas is Without a Clue nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
