De succesvolle tuinarchitect Will Francis voelt zich ietwat buitengesloten uit de wereld van zijn Zweedse vrouw Liv, die tegenwoordig haar dagen slijt met tobben over haar autistische dochter. Als Will na een serie inbraken in zijn kantoor de jonge dader naar huis volgt, ontmoet hij de moeder van het joch, de warmbloedige, Bosnische naaister Amira. Door haar leert hij een voor hem totaal onbekende wereld kennen.
