Een jonge Engelse dominee en zijn vrouw gaan naar Australië, omdat een Australische bisschop van de anglicaanse kerk de dominee heeft gevraagd om voor een tijdje bij een excentrieke kunstenaar te verblijven die nogal gewaagde erotische kunst maakt, en die samen met zijn vrouw en drie modellen buiten de stad woont. De dominee, die zichzelf toch als progressief ziet, is geschokt door de liberale sfeer in het huis. Zijn vrouw raakt steeds meer onder invloed van de vrije sfeer die er heerst, maar probeert gelijktijdig haar man trouw te blijven.
