Elara, een jonge violiste, is smoorverliefd op Lucio, een Siciliaanse student. Hun liefde bloeit op, maar plotseling moet Lucio terug naar Italië om voor zijn zieke nichtje te zorgen. Elara worstelt met eenzaamheid en verdriet, tot ze in een droom nieuwe inspiratie vindt.
