Dennis Allan is een onderzoeker die naar Haiti gaat om een bepaald soort drugs te onderzoeken. Met deze drugs kun je mensen dood laten lijken terwijl ze leven. Dennis moet een keuze maken tussen de wetenschap en bijgeloof in een door de dictator Papa Doc geregeerd Haiti.
