Verdwaald in een wereld die door de natuur is teruggewonnen en overspoeld door mysterieuze wezens, navigeert Ethan (Douglas Smith), een jonge man met geheugenverlies, door het gevaarlijke landschap op zoek naar zijn verloren liefde Emma (Kimberly-Sue Murray). Zijn reis neemt een onverwachte wending wanneer hij Mae (Carrie-Anne Moss) tegenkomt, een geharde en excentrieke overlevende. Samen worden Ethan en Mae geconfronteerd met zowel menselijke als andere bedreigingen voordat een noodlottige ontmoeting met Kai (Frank Grillo) een geheim ontrafelt dat net buiten Ethans gebroken geheugen ligt.
