Verliefd als hij is op de studente die handtekeningen tegen het bewind van een Zuid-Amerikaanse dictator ophaalt, laat hij zich overhalen zich voor de situatie aldaar te interesseren. Hij wordt getuige van de machtsovername (live op TV) en rolt zo in de politiek dat hij de nieuwe dictator wordt.
