Een "man uit de toekomst" arriveert bij een restaurant in Los Angeles. Daar moet hij precies de juiste combinatie van ontevreden gasten verzamelen om zich bij hem aan te sluiten op een eendaagse missie om de wereld te redden. De wereld wordt namelijk bedreigd van een kwaadaardige kunstmatige intelligentie.
