Helen woont in North Wales bij haar ex, zijn 20 jaar oude vriendin en hun nieuwe baby. Ze brengt haar nachten door met het inpakken van geslachte kippen en haar dagen met het verzorgen van de stervende schoonmoeder Gwen. Het leven ziet er niet rooskleurig uit voor Helen. Maar als haar jeugdliefde Joanne terugkeert naar het dorp, keert ook Helens levenslust terug.
