Het bedrijf TraviCom zet een expeditie op die als doel heeft het vinden van het hart van Congo, waar diamanten gevonden moeten worden voor satellieten. De expeditieleider verliest contact met zijn zoon en besluit een reddingsactie op touw te zetten. Het team bestaat uit professor Peter Elliot, electronica expert Karen Ross, gids Monroe Kelly en ontdekkingsreiziger Homolka. Eenmaal daar aangekomen blijkt dat mensen vermoord worden door vreemde, moordlustige dieren...
