New York. Hi-tech superconcern Time Safari, waar Ben Kingsley de scepter zwaait, verdient zeer veel geld met het verzorgen van virtuele safari's. Tegen betaling kunnen mensen via een hi-tech computer terug naar de pre-historie, alwaar ze op levensgrote en in het wild levende dieren, waaronder dinosaurussen, jagen. Uiteraard wel onder strikte regels. Zo hebben de deelnemers speciale kleding, apart wapentuig en mogen ze absoluut niet van de baan afstappen waar ze op lopen en waar vandaan ze jagen. Alles gaat goed totdat één van de deelnemers aan deze safari toch van de baan afstapt en er een vlinder aan zijn schoenzool blijft plakken. Zonder het te weten zet hij een kettingreactie in gang die zijn weerga niet kent en de mensheid in haar bestaan op alle fronten dreigt te vernietigen...
Nee, helaas is A Sound of Thunder nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
