Een clan uit de middenklasse uit het noordoosten wordt plotseling in de wereld van de superrijken geworpen. Ze worden opgesloten in een 20.000 vierkante meter groot herenhuis op een landgoed van 40 hectare in Palm Beach en worden 24 uur per dag door camera's geobserveerd. Ze strijden in uitdagingen van de high society om cruises op luxe jachten, privéjets en spectaculaire prijzen en uiteindelijk om de controle over het fortuin van één miljoen dollar. Een full-service professionele staf staat tot hun beschikking, waaronder een butler, personal trainer, stylist, keukenpersoneel, persoonlijke secretaresse, huishoudsters, manicure, tennisprofessional en talloze anderen - allemaal gewend om met high-end klanten te werken. Zonder dat de tien deelnemers het weten, kiest het personeel de winnaars en verliezers, en de verliezers moeten in het huis blijven om te zien hoe de overgebleven deelnemers het uitvechten.
