De familie Haskin probeert de waanzin rondom het millenium te ontvluchten door naar de geïsoleerde bossen van de Sierra Diablos bergen te gaan. Maar ook hier zijn ze niet verlost van de gekte en de terreur. Ze worden ontvoerd door de Crawfords, een gemene boerenfamilie, en moeten vechten voor hun leven. Maar niemand van hen is zich er van bewust dat de monsterlijke nachtmerrie die schuilgaat in het diepste van de aarde op het punt staat uit te barsten.
