Voetbalclub Slavoj bereidt zich voor op een allesbeslissende wedstrijd om degradatie te voorkomen. Coach Jarda Bera moet echter veel problemen te lijf gaan om wat rust in het team te krijgen. Zo wordt aanvoerder Koubek ervan beschuldigd dat hij in de vorige wedstrijd met een handsbal scoorde. De jonge Smolka, die ieders hoop op de toekomst is, begint primadonnagedrag te vertonen. Technisch directeur Stárek houdt de goede doelman Sixta op de bank en speelt spelers tegen elkaar uit, waardoor de sfeer nog eens extra verziekt wordt.
