Griffith heeft zijn hele leven gewoond in het arme plaatsje Pine Apple in Mississippi. Eigenlijk wil hij vertrekken en nieuwe ervaringen opdoen, maar hij heeft zijn verantwoordelijkheden in Pine Apple zoals zijn zieke tante. Wanneer een vreemdeling in het plaatsje aankomt, voelt Griffith zich tot hem aangetrokken.
