Emma Burke is een getrouwde vrouw die het beu is om gebukt te gaan onder de sleur van moeder, echtgenote en assistente van een advocate. Ze komt dan ook uitgeblust aan op Hawaï voor de begrafenis van Lily, de vrouw die haar heeft opgevoed. Ze vindt echter gauw een aangename afleiding als ze Lily's neef Kala leert kennen.
