Alex is een verlegen 13-jarige tiener. Tijdens een familiebezoek in Mexico krijgt de knaap een onwaarschijnlijke metgezel als hij een jonge chupacabra ontdekt die zich in de schuur van zijn opa verstopt. Om het mythische wezen te redden, moeten Alex en zijn neven het avontuur van hun leven aangaan.
