In Test Pattern volgen we het gemengde stel Renesha en Evan. Als Renesha na een avondje uit in Austin Texas seksueel wordt misbruikt, staat hun hele wereld op z'n kop. Samen proberen ze tot een oplossing te komen en gaan ze op zoek naar hulp. De medische en juridische bureaucratie blijkt ingewikkelder dan gedacht en legt een grote druk op het jonge stel. Ze worden van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd, waarna de frustraties oplopen en ze alle zeilen bij moeten zetten om een team te blijven.
