Cami is een kinderboekenauteur en illustrator die haar norse en strijdlustige tienerdochter Aster heeft grootgebracht sinds haar ex Craig hen heeft verlaten om een nieuw leven te beginnen met Rachel. Wanneer door een onvoorziene tragedie Rachel en Tallulah, de dochter die ze met Craig heeft, op straat komen te staan, biedt Cami haar vervallen camper aan. De weg naar een vriendschap tussen Cami en Rachel is moeilijk en vervuld met jarenlange wrok.
