Scotty Corrigan koopt een antieke tafel en vindt daarin een liefdesbrief, geschreven door een vrouw die al honderd jaar dood is. Voor de grap schrijft en post hij een antwoord op de brief. Op wonderbaarlijke wijze bereikt de brief zijn bestemming in het verleden.
