De jonge, losbandige en soms wat humeurige Kate (Emilia Clarke) is niet tevreden over haar leven. Niet alleen vanwege de zware periode die ze heeft doorstaan, maar ook door het irritante gerinkel van de belletjes aan haar schoenen - zij werkt namelijk als elf in een kerstwinkel die het hele jaar door open is. Tom (Henry Golding) lijkt te mooi om waar te zijn als hij haar leven binnen komt lopen en hij door de muur die Kate om zich heen gebouwd heeft heen lijkt te breken.
