In 1306 wordt de Schotse koning Robert the Bruce verslagen en vogelvrij verklaard wanneer zijn land wordt binnengevallen. Maar voordat hij zijn heilige land kan bevrijden, moet hij erin slagen de wil terug te winnen om terug te vechten en de vervolging te overleven van degenen die zijn hoofd en het Engelse goud willen afpakken.
