Op Halloweenavond is het opvallend stil in het boerenstadje New Caney. Rose zit eenzaam voor de deur van haar huis en jaagt de kinderen die willen aanbellen weg. Later op de avond bezoekt Rose met haar man, die net terug is van de oorlog, het jaarlijkse horrorevenement. De avond neemt echter een duistere wending.
