Wanneer een man wordt vermoord voordat hij zijn mijnvondst kan claimen, vraagt men Hopalong Cassidy om de nieuwe sheriff te worden en het duistere zaakje op te lossen. Lilli Marsh schijnt het nodige af te weten van wat er gebeurd is en ook haar handlanger Blackie Felton lijkt niet helemaal schone handen te hebben.
