Nadat ze meerdere keren door studio's zijn afgewezen, gaat een onhandige filmploeg onder aanvoering van regisseur Shane een goedkope horrorfilm opnemen in een verlaten weeshuis. Ze hebben nepbloed en acteurs, maar missen een goed script. Al snel komen ze erachter dat een familie van sadistische moordenaars hun script heeft herschreven. Nu zullen ze moeten vluchten om de draaidag te overleven.
