De jaren 50. Andy heeft zijn moeder verloren en is opgevoed door zijn emotioneel onstabiele vader. Nu gaat Andy samenwerken met zijn mentor Dr. Wallace Fiennes. Deze houdt zich bezig met lobotomie en shock therapieën en vraagt de jongeman hem tijdens operaties bij te staan om foto's te nemen.
