12 oktober 1978. Kamer 100, in het Chelsea Hotel, met een vervaagde 19de eeuwse gevel, die een klantenkring van junkies moet verbergen. De vloer van de kleine suite-badkamer is bedekt met bloed. En tussen het toilet en de wastafel ligt het lichaam van een vrouw, een peroxide-blonde in zwarte beha en slipje. Ze heet Nancy Spungen, een twintigjarige, voormalige stripster, prostituee en groupie. Zij had ook de twijfelachtige eer om de vriendin te zijn van Sid Vicious, de bassist van The Sex Pistols. Sid werd gearresteerd en beschuldigd van de moord, maar de zaak kwam nooit tot een proces. Zijn schuld werd niet bewezen en zodoende schreeuwde hij zijn onschuld uit. Alan G. Parker gaat op zoektocht om de waarheid achter deze misdaad alsnog te ontdekken.
