Ashade is een taxichauffeur in New York, wiens broer gevangen zit in Guantanamo Bay. Hij probeert zoveel mogelijk geld bij elkaar te krijgen voor een advocaat om zijn broer bij te staan. Op een avond pikt hij Phoebe op als klant: een rijke, instabiele tv-producente die furieus is over 9/11 en als gevolg hiervan racistische trekjes vertoont. De twee raken in gesprek en na deze avond worden ze vrienden. Maar niet alles blijkt zo te zijn als ze beiden zeggen.
