Een groep immigranten zonder papieren uit Puebla is woonachtig in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Ze werken gedurende zes dagen per week lange uren als fietskoeriers, bouwarbeiders, afwassers en snoepverkopers. Op zondag genieten ze van hun rust door middel van het voetbal. Wanneer het voetbalteam van de getalenteerde José het schopt tot in de finale, kan zijn geluk niet op totdat zijn baas hem meedeelt dat hij op de finaledag moet werken. José probeert te onderhandelen, zonder succes. Als hij die zondag niet komt werken, staan zijn werk en toekomst op het spel.
