"Big Time" is een vermenging van droom en werkelijkheid. Tom Waits is vastgelegd tijdens diverse optredens, maar speelt tussendoor ook een beheerder van een theater. In die rol krijgt hij bij gebrek aan klandizie - slechts één dame wandelt langs zijn loket - alle gelegenheid om er op los te dromen over een bruisende showbizzcarrière. De muzikale basis wordt gevormd door drie grensverleggende studio-albums van zijn hand: Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs en Franks Wild Years, die samen als een trilogie kunnen worden beschouwd.
Nee, helaas is Big Time nog niet beschikbaar op Netflix in Nederland.
