Phoenix, Arizona op 13 maart 1997. Een gezin legt 's avonds met de homevideocamera een mysterieuze gebeurtenis vast. Ze filmen zeven lichtjes in de donkere lucht. Drie tieners besluiten vervolgens uit te zoeken wat er aan de hand is en reizen in de richting waarin de lichtjes verdwenen.
