Ex-sportman en playboy Mike Gambril besluit te trouwen met Lynn Weaver, een bekende tv-presentatrice. Het nieuws wordt in de media druk besproken en het belooft hét huwelijk van het jaar te worden. Maar wanneer Mike naar Australië reist, ontmoet hij op het vliegtuig de charmante Terry. Zij is zich ten volle bewust van zijn veroveringstechnieken en houdt de boot af. Mike voelt zich écht tot haar aangetrokken en is er bijgevolg niet rouwig om dat het vliegtuig een noodlanding moet maken op een piepklein atol in de oceaan. De passagiers krijgen te horen dat ze per boot naar Fiji, Hawaï of Tahiti moeten varen om daar op een ander vliegtuig te kunnen stappen. De bootreis neemt enkele dagen in beslag. Tijd genoeg voor Mike om Terry van zijn liefde te overtuigen.
