Ana is een voorbeeldig meisje dat is opgeleid in de 'normaliteit' van een middenklassefamilie. Ze is nooit dapper genoeg geweest om te breken met alle regels die haar goed geleide leven zou moeten zijn. Het uiterlijk van een dubbelganger die haar leven begint te leven en al haar verplichtingen nakomt, stelt Ana in staat om voor het eerst volledige anonimiteit aan te nemen. Dit feit wordt iets dat ze begrijpt als de mogelijkheid om het leven te kiezen dat ze wil zonder iemand een reden te geven, als de manier om totale vrijheid en geluk te vinden.
