In een lege loft bakenen een man en een vrouw de grond af met oranje tape in twee even grote gebieden: de ene ruimte is voor haar dansstudio en de andere voor zijn workshop van sculpturen. Een open keuken en een matras zorgen ervoor dat de plek een huis wordt. Het koppel versmelt in seksuele passie, ze voetballen met vrienden of feesten, waarna ze zich altijd terugtrekken achter hun scheidingslijnen als een middel om hun creativiteit te stimuleren. Het duurt niet lang voordat hij haar ruimte begint te gebruiken voor zijn grote sculpturen en zij de zijne voor haar choreografie. Deze wisselwerking tussen intimiteit en rivaliteit betekent dat het echtpaar elkaar zelf voortdurend opnieuw verkent. De man ervaart uiteindelijk een groeiende wens om een kind te hebben met haar.
