Een biologieleraar en zijn vrouw nemen hun twee kinderen mee naar een zomerhuis op een eiland. Dan verschijnt een grote groep vogels die de familie gaat aanvallen. De burgemeester weigert te geloven dat de vogels verantwoordelijk zijn voor die chaos die nu op het hele eiland heerst. Maar dan ondervindt hij in levenden lijve waar de vogels toe in staat zijn.
