Als prins Paris verliefd wordt op de Griekse koningin Helena, neemt hij haar, met toestemming van de godin Hera, mee naar Troje. Dit is voor de Grieken, die toch al plannen hadden voor een aanval op Troje, net het argument wat ze nodig hadden om definitief een oorlog te beginnen.
