De twintigjarige Emily Martin uit Texas verhuist naar Los Angeles om er een carrière te beginnen als comédienne. Wanneer een dierbare ziek wordt, keert ze terug naar Austin waar ze haar ex en diens vriendin tegen het lijf loopt. Emily kan niet anders dan bij het koppel te verblijven en ontmoet een stoere vrouw die haar op het rechte pad houdt.
