Bob en Gail Jones verwachten hun eerste kind, maar bij Bob is longkanker geconstateerd waardoor hij waarschijnlijk dood zal gaan voordat de baby geboren is. Zo verdrietig als hij is, denkend aan het kind wat hij nooit zou kunnen zien, besluit hij een film te maken over zijn leven, zodat het kind hem toch zal kennen.
