Slechts enkele dagen voordat Rhett (Chris Pine) naar Nashville vertrekt om een levenslange droom na te streven: singer/songwriter worden, realiseert zijn vriendin Samantha (Bre Blair) zich dat 'zijn' toekomst misschien niet 'hun' toekomst is. Dit nieuws komt als een schok voor Rhett, en hij wordt geconfronteerd met de keuze tussen het volgen van zijn droom en een verblijf in zijn geboortestad om bij de vrouw te zijn van wie hij houdt.
