Abdul-Jabbar werd geboren als Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor en was een center met een lengte van 2 meter 18. Hij speelde voor UCLA van 1967 tot 1969. Na het behalen van een diploma van UCLA, speelde hij voor de Milwaukee Bucks en de Los Angeles Lakers in de NBA.
