Ex-alcoholsmokkelaar wordt een jonge autocoureur en boekt snel succes. Hij wordt dan ongelukkig verliefd en beseft al snel dat hij als eenzame wolf geen kans heeft tegen de grotere teams. Hij heeft nu een keuze: óf hij onderwerpt zich aan de beperkingen van de race-organisatie en een promotor, óf hij faalt (hoogstwaarschijnlijk) als autocoureur.
