De Texaan Jim Garry reageert op een oproep van zijn oude vriend Tate Riling uit New Mexico om hem te helpen met een veeproject, waarbij de oude rancher John Lufton aan het kortste eind zal trekken. Jim krijgt te maken met John Luftons dochter Amy, waarmee hij een schotenwisseling heeft.
