Plot

Bob McGraw zit in zijn 12e jaar op de universiteit en baant zich een weg door het leven. Bob, Irwing, Gonzer en Max zijn de vier verliezers die gedwongen en omgekocht zijn om hun universiteit te vertegenwoordigen in een intercollegiale vlotrace. Gedwongen en omgekocht in deze rol, maken ze een aantal vrienden, de mooie Heather Merriweather, maar vooral vijanden, onder andere een heel team mariniers, en preppy IVY-leaguers die vastbesloten zijn om te winnen.
