De veertien jaar oude Eleanor Crane gaat op bezoek bij haar neef Peter in een afgelegen Oost-Europees dorpje. In het dorpje wordt ze achterdochtig aangekeken, omdat de inwoners weten dat haar neef een dodelijk geheim met zich meedraagt.
