Timofey Berezin (Paddy Considine) wordt op zijn werk, in een geheime nucleaire fabriek vlakbij Moskou, blootgesteld aan een dodelijke dosis nucleaire straling. Hij heeft nog maar een aantal dagen te leven. Voordat zijn vrouw Maria (Radha Mitchell) door heeft wat er precies aan de hand is met haar echtgenoot, vertrekt deze naar Moskou. Hij wil in zijn laatste dagen de toekomst van zijn vrouw en zoon veiligstellen door op straat in Moskou gestolen nucleaire wapens te verkopen. Hij krijgt hierbij hulp van lokale gangster Shiv (Oscar Isaac).
