De knappe 18-jarige Lake onderhoudt een relatie met Desirée en werkt met enige tegenzin als badmeester. Maar de laatste tijd merkt hij dat hij zich stiekem eigenlijk nogal aangetrokken voelt tot de oudere mannen in het zwembad. Wanneer één van hen bijna verdrinkt, redt Lake hem, maar wel op een manier die een beetje te enthousiast is en Lake kan dan ook niet anders dan zijn eigen verlangens erkennen. Enige tijd later werft zijn moeder hem aan voor een baan in een tehuis voor ouderen. Daar ontmoet hij Mr Peabody en hij is op slag verliefd. Als hij ontdekt dat Mr Peabody telkens een te hoge dosis medicijnen krijgt toegediend, helpt hij hem te ontsnappen: de start van een verrassende en romantische roadtrip.
